The RoboCop remake just got much more interesting. There's a new addition to the cast, and it's an actor we all know and love. It looks like Joel Kinnaman will be sharing the screen with one of the stars of this summer's The Dark Knight Rises.

Gary Oldman will go from a cop in TDKR to a scientist in RoboCop. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he'll "play Norton, the scientist who creates RoboCop and finds himself torn between the ideals of the machine trying to rediscover its humanity and the callous needs of a corporation."

We look forward to seeing how the RoboCop/Norton relationship plays out. If you hire an Oscar-nominated actor like Oldman, you have to put him to good use. Considering the nature of the role, he should have a lot to work with.

RoboCop centers on a murdered officer (Kinnaman) who's brought back to life as a cyborg. The original film was released in 1987 and directed by Paul Verhoeven. Peter Weller played Murphy, while Nancy Allen appeared as his distraught partner Anne Lewis.

Speaking of Lewis, who could play her?

What do you think of Oldman joining the cast of RoboCop?
