How do teachers keep an unruly classroom in line? Back in the bad old days, they could use corporal punishment or even a trauma-inducing dunce cap. But in the 21st century, teachers have to be more creative. One Belgian math teacher's solution is the most creative of all: Threaten the children with Game of Thrones spoilers.

According to the Daily Mirror, the teacher, unnamed but identified as male, asked his overly chatty class if they watched Game of Thrones. (Yes, Belgium has HBO. Belgium even has access to HBO On Demand.)

A full three quarters of them raised their hands. He then said, "Well, I have read all the books. If there's too much noise, I will write the names of the dead on the board. They are enough to fill the whole year, and I can even describe how they die."

But then a few students put his threat to the test … so he made good but writing out "the names of every character killed at the end of the third series on his board 'for those who had not seen it.'"

One student said, "There was a religious silence for the last hour of the lesson."

Well played, teacher. In fact, it was so well played that it makes us wonder if conveniently unnamed teacher is playing the game of thrones for himself ...

We should be grateful that he didn't threaten fire and blood.
