Prepare to dance ... badly. And perhaps annoyingly.
A month ago, NBC announced that David S. Pumpkins is getting his own animated Halloween special. Now the cartoon, which airs on October 28, has released a taste of the nonsense.
For those of you who have been steering clear of pumpkin patches, David S. Pumpkins was the standout character from the "Haunted Elevator" sketch on Saturday Night Live last year. Tom Hanks played David S. Pumpkins, a bizarre character who is "his own thing" (as in, not from a movie or other such existing franchise) and was backed up by a pair of dancing skeletons, played by Mikey Day and Bobby Moynihan, who wrote the sketch along with Skeeter Seidell. (Fun fact: Lady Gaga almost played Mrs. David S. Pumpkins. She pulled out at the last minute, but how awesome would that have been?)
Hanks will reprise the role in NBC's upcoming animated special, and will again be joined by Day, Moynihan, and Seidell. And bonus! Peter Dinklage of Game of Thrones and SNL's "Space Pants" fame is also on board.
As with any good animated seasonal special, the David S. Pumpkins Animated Halloween Special will show a young boy and his sister the "true meaning of Halloween." Alas, we're guessing that no questions will be answered in this one.
Check out the teaser above and the original sketch below, then let us know if you have "any questions."
