The 15-minute episodes of Teen Titans Go! have helped add levity to the often serious takes on comic heroes in popular media. Now, with their upcoming feature film (starring Kristen Bell and Will Arnett), they’ll be taking their silliness to the screen. No, seriously, that’s the plot of the movie.

Warner Brothers has released a synopsis for the animated film that details the heroes’ plight in a world where every superhero seems to have a movie but them:

It seems to the Teens that all the major superheroes out there are starring in their own movies—everyone but the Teen Titans, that is! But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick. If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director to notice them.

With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream. But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously super villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry. The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line!

While the Teen Titans have been in the news plenty lately, what with new images of their upcoming (and serious, like much of the aforementioned live-action superhero fare) series Titans and battling each other with plenty of strife between Kid Flash and Robin in the current comic run, there’s not been this kind of fun, metatextual adventure in their canon.

In a plot similar to The Muppet Movie (especially that part about having a song in their hearts), the animated Teens will get to comment upon the current superhero climate while still having a goofy blast doing so.

The film premieres on July 27, 2018.
