One of my most anticipated sci-fi films of the year is without a doubt The Imitation Game director Morten Tyldum’s Passengers, from a script written by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus, Doctor Strange). Sony Pictures has released an exciting new trailer and a brand-new clip from the movie starring X-Men: Apocalypse’s Jennifer Lawrence and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt.

Set to be released next month, the upcoming movie is a galactic space opera that follows two fellow passengers on a spaceship bound for another part of the galaxy. The kicker is that they are awakened 90 years before they’re set to reach their destination, and what you think is going to happen happens. They fall in love and then all hell breaks loose.

The tense new clip below is the second one released (the first one had Jennifer Lawrence going for a gravity-free swim) and spotlights Lawrence and Pratt in grave peril when a hull breach starts to suck out the ship’s air and the young lovers have to fend for their lives when a lockdown is initiated. Check it out as well as the new trailer below, and let us know what you think. Passengers will open on Dec. 21.

On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. As Jim (Chris Pratt) and Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence) face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… until they discover the ship is in grave danger. With the lives of 5000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all.
