There have been some reports recently that Tesla may be in some dire financial straits. Well, one car-customizing shop may have the perfect solution for turning Elon Musk’s electric car company around: the KITT option.

SS Customs is a “Vehicle Enhancement Studio” out of Northern California, and as you can see in their Instagram post below, they’ve given the Tesla Model X the full-on Knight Rider treatment, complete with a flashing red light across the grille, lighting elements on the fore and aft badges, and a flat-black paint job:

Granted, other than Tesla’s standard voice recognition system, you won’t be having any in-depth, William Daniels-voiced conversations with your car, which is certainly not a Knight Industries Two Thousand — but hey, it looks neat.

In case you need a quick ‘80s refresher course, KITT was the artificially intelligent electronic computer inside Michael Knight’s (David Hasselhoff) most enviable 1982 Pontiac Firebird on the NBC show Knight Rider. And if you need a 2008 refresher course too, it was the A.I. voiced by Val Kilmer in the short-lived series reboot that reimagined the mean machine as a 2008/2009 Ford Shelby GT500KR.

Of course, the Tesla Model X is more of an SUV than a sports car, but wouldn’t every car look cooler with a flashing red light across the grille?

According to Electrek, SS Customs is one of Tesla’s long-term customizing specialists. As such, they’ve worked with Tesla before modifying the company’s already futuristic cars, including a couple of camouflaged numbers in support of veterans.

This latest effort, known as Project: X-Rider, is available now at SS Customs, though you’ll need a Model X first — which starts at about $80,000. Interested?
