It would seem that the team behind Deadpool 2 gave the film their maximum effort, as the Ryan Reynolds-starring sequel is scoring high marks in recent test screenings.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new film (which underwent six days of reshoots last month) is receiving marks as high as 98% in tests. The first and second of three test screenings had the film coming in at 91% and 97% respectively, but it was a test of two separate cuts in Dallas that had the film going even higher. THR is reporting that the two cuts "scored a 98 and a 94. The 98-scoring cut is the version the team is using." They also report that the Dallas screening was attended by the crew, and that the atmosphere was "electric" and "akin to watching the Super Bowl."
What all of this ultimately adds up to is that Deadpool 2 is testing much higher than the original Deadpool did. The highest rating that film received was a 91, and it went on to become the highest grossing X-Men-based film of all time. If the testing numbers are anything to go by, Deadpool 2 could lay waste to that record.
Apparently there's nothing for fans to worry about here, with THR claiming that the reshoots that were held last month in Vancouver were held to add "more of what test screening audiences enjoyed." They also claim that a secret cameo was recently filmed in Los Angeles.
Are you excited for Deadpool 2? Who do you think the "secret cameo" involves? Does Ryan Reynolds still hold your beating heart in his hands, or has your X-citement faded? Let us know in the comments!
