The internet is a spoiler minefield since Avengers: Infinity War premiered last night at El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. Thankfully, some of the attendees have offered spoiler-free reviews, and one of the most interesting came from the creator of the film's central baddie: Jim Starlin.

Josh Brolin wouldn’t have an Infinity War job if it weren't for Thanos' iconic appreance in Silver Surfer Vol. 3, #34 written by Starlin with art by Ron Lim, Tom Christopher, and Tom Vincent. As such, Starlin was invited to the epic red carpet event (even though he officially stopped writing comics for Marvel), and had the opportunity to see his galaxy ruler make his live-action debut.

Starlin took to Facebook to post how moved and impressed he was with Brolin’s portrayal and Anthony and Joe Russo’s direction. “Brolin is an incredible Thanos, moving and emoting just as I tried to portray him in the comics,” Thanos' co-creator posted. “Yes, I know my opinion should be considered a bit biased, because of my connection to the production but the Russos, Markus, McFeely and everyone else involved in this film get my heartfelt thanks for bringing everyone’s favorite Titan to life in the best way possible, in a jaw-droppingly awesome fashion. Ten out of ten thumbs up.”

While it’s not uncommon for comic book creators to praise film adaptations featuring their characters, it's generally a good sign. Starlin's review adds to some of the promising early takes and current certified fresh rating from Rotten Tomatoes (at the time of publication). Who knows, maybe this and the swinging after party could help reverse Starlin’s position with Marvel Comics. It would have had to have been a heckuva party though, judging by what Starlin has said about the matter.

The rest of the world will get to share their love or hate for Thanos when Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters everywhere this Friday, April 27.
