Snow White just got a little less emo. Following the first trailer for Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman is the lighter and much funnier Mirror Mirror. In this version, Lily Collins takes over for Kristen Stewart and Julia Roberts fills in for Charlize Theron.
Mirror Mirror turns the story of Snow White into a love triangle gone wrong. The majority of the plot is the same, but instead of Snow White being a damsel in distress, she dabbles in magic and mischief to get back at the Evil Queen. Speaking of her highness, the Queen acts more like a Beverly Hills housewife than a deadly threat.
Unlike Snow White and the Huntsman, Mirror Mirror seems like an all-out comedy. Any film where the attractive male lead pants like a dog has slapstick written all over it. Instead of fighting its competition with more darkness, this movie is going the Princess Bride route. Surprisingly, Tarsem Singh, who's responsible for current box office champ Immortals, is the director behind the film. Talk about going from one extreme to the next!
Mirror Mirror opens in theaters March 16, three months before Snow White and the Huntsman.
