James Corden, host of The Late Late Show on CBS and the voice of Peter Rabbit, is known for his hilarious and star-studded sketches like "Carpool Karaoke," his Catfish parody of The Shape of Water, and that time he got Oprah Winfrey to reenact A Wrinkle in Time in a fake stage production. His latest bit, meant to celebrate the worldwide release of Avengers: Infinity War, found him creating his own take on the classic Hollywood Star Tours, which would cater to movie stars.
Named James Corden’s Star Star Tour, the excursion begins with the host saying, "I've invested a whole lot of money into this, most of mine, and actually a large chunk of The Late Late Show’s budget, so I really need some stars to turn up."
He needn't have worried because he snags a good chunk of the Infinity War cast: Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Paul Bettany (Vision), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Winston Duke (M'Baku), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), and Josh Brolin (Thanos).
Corden welcomes all the stars to the tour, but warns them that all weapons, including vibranium and Infinity Gauntlets, are forbidden. He also says that flash photography is allowed, but that they must tag him in every photo... right before he asks Cumberbatch and Pratt to apply sunscreen to his legs, which they actually do.
When the bus passes by a coffee shop, Corden pokes fun at celebrity culture, explaining that it's the place where assistants and interns go and wait in line when celebrities demand coffee. "When you said 'waiting in line,' what does that mean?" asks Pratt when they come across a brunch spot with people waiting outside.
Then, Josh Brolin, the Mad Titan himself, asks to use the restroom, to which Corden replies that only actors who have been in three Marvel movies or more are allowed to go to the bathroom and that "end-credits scenes don't count." Corden also asks them which character dies in the new movie, but Paul Bettany speaks for the group, declaring, "Snitches end up in ditches!"
Next, the bus stops at Golden Apple Comics on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, where the cast take selfies and sign comic books and merch for excited fans. Lost in the sudden appearance of so many characters is Corden, who bleats feebly that he'd be happy to sign any Peter Rabbit swag. Sadly, no one takes him up on the offer.
At the end, Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, shows up late and settles in for what will be a solitary tour.
Yes, it's as epic a team-up as Infinity War itself, minus a few (universe-shattering) stones.
