Prepare to dive into the future of the DCEU, by going retro.

As you can see below, the Aquaman trailer has become the latest genre property to get the retro 8-bit treatment from the great animator John Stratman for JoBlo, with music by Kenny Mac.

It even has the feature that the old video games tied to live-action movies used, where a totally pixelated version of the actor's face would appear whenever a certain character would have to speak. Little details like that make this fan trailer worth a watch, but it also serves as a little scavenger hunt.

"I've included cameos and Easter eggs in videos I've worked on before, but this one includes Where's Waldo style cameos from a couple of notable undersea characters," the animator told SYFY WIRE via Twitter.

Check out Stratman's 8-bit magic below, and see what underwater secrets you can unearth!

Water is one of those tricky things within the world of digital effects that is particularly hard to recreate believably. Luckily, a classic Sega Genesis title from 1992 proved to be a valuable piece of reference material for Stratman.

"I had some fun figuring out how to bit-ify water for this. One obvious influence on this video is the best water based video game of all time, Ecco the Dolphin," said Stratman, who has also created similar retro glory for The Last Jedi and Infinity War

Directed by James WanAquaman swims into theaters Dec. 21. The DCEU's latest superhero film stars Jason Momoa (Arthur Curry), Amber Heard (Mera), Nicole Kidman (Queen Atlanna), Patrick Wilson (Ocean Master), Willem Dafoe (Nuidis Vulko), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta), and Dolph Lundgren (King Nereus).
