We’ve said it before: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is the best Star Wars video game ever made … and one of the best video games of all time. Now it's about to get better.

We’ve known for a few weeks now that the 2003 video game KOTOR would be getting a new polish thanks to the efforts of fan group Apeiron. Now Apeiron has released footage of its upcoming game. And it looks spectacular. Check it out, below.

Back in 2003, BioWare released a game that was filled with adventure, excitement and everything a Jedi should not crave but a gamer does. You play a character who has lost his/her memory and recovers it while learning the ways of the Force ... 4000 years before Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope begins. Encountering thought-provoking choices at each and every turn, you team up with a diverse group of characters and learn about your dark past. And the story is one of the best Star Wars tales ever told, on-screen or on the page.

But despite its epic story arc, the graphics were only mediocre back in 2003 — and are painfully dated here in 2016. Apeiron’s polish is about as professional as it gets.

Better yet, Apeiron will be including new content, which means we’ll be getting a whole new gameplay experience.

This isn’t the first time a videogame has received a fan update. The videogame modding community frequently contributes new graphics to old games, such as Deux Ex and Morrowind. Also, Half-Life received a complete update with Black Mesa back in 2015.

So, when will be getting our hands on Apeiron's version of KOTOR? Only time and Apeiron can tell.
