The CW has finally announced its list of series renewals, and it’s a long one — though there are still a few question marks lingering around the fringes. Long story short: It’s a good time to be a superhero show.

The network has confirmed the renewal of Arrow, Black Lightning, Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Riverdale and Supernatural for next season. Non-genre renewals include Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Dynasty and Jane the Virgin. The network has yet to make a decision on The 100, iZombie, Life Sentence and Valor. The CW is doing pretty well with most of its slate, and it’s not much of a surprise to see so many shows coming back. The DC superhero shows are looking to be stalwarts at this point, along with the unstoppable juggernaut Supernatural.

"As The CW expands to a six-night, Sunday through Friday schedule next season, we are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19. By picking these 10 series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come,” CW president Mark Pedowitz said in a statement. “And I’m especially happy that we’ll continue to work with the incredibly talented casts, producers, and writers who create the series our fans are so passionate about.”

We can also already start to glean how a few of these shows might look next season, too. We know Legends of Tomorrow has already added Matt Ryan's John Constantine for next season, and Willa Holland's Thea Queen has exited Arrow, so Season 7 will almost certainly move on without her.

The network should certainly have space for all these returning projects, after expanding its schedule to six nights with the addition of original programming on Sunday. The network is also prepping nine pilots (led by the “Wayward Sisters” Supernatural spinoff for genre fans) to fill in the rest of those programming gaps.

Are you glad to see all these CW shows coming back? Think we’ll get the five-show superhero crossover with Black Lightning in the mix next season?
