The CW went on a bit of a casting spree in the past few days, adding new cast members and guest-stars to Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl.
Let’s start with the series that kick-started the Arrowverse, shall we?
Variety reports that Sydelle Noel (GLOW, Black Panther) was cast in a recurring capacity on the sixth season of Arrow as FBI agent Samanda Watson. The character is described as “intelligent and poised with a no nonsense attitude” will investigate Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) ties to Star City’s top vigilante the Green Arrow, and from the sounds of it, she won’t let go until she gets her man.
Over at CBR, it was revealed that Spartacus alum Simon Merrells (he played Marcus Crassus) will appear as Julius Caesar when the crew of the Waverider travels back in time to Ancient Rome in the third season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Here’s what executive producer Phil Klemmer told the assembled press at SDCC: “We start out in 2017, obviously, but we’re going to take a trip back to Ancient Rome. We’re going to have Simon Merrells — he played Julius Caesar’s [patron Crassus] on Spartacus — who’s going to be playing Julius Caesar on our show.”
Last but not least, TV Line reports that Carlos Bernard (Tony Almeida on 24) will guest-star as Maggie’s (Floriana Lima) dad Oscar Rodas in Season 3 of Supergirl. A cop like his daughter, it was the character’s conservative stance that led him to kick his teenage daughter (now engaged to be married to Kara’s sister Alex) to the curb when the family found out she was gay and had a big row. No doubt that should make for a compelling, and poignant, story for the Supergirl team.
