Since it was first announced back in August, we've gotten a few glimpses of the character ahead of her slated debut in this year's Arrowverse crossover, Elseworlds. Now, The CW has given us a (very brief) clip of Batwoman in action.
While the promo starts with your standard-issue Gotham City imagery, including Arkham Asylum and the bat signal with Batwoman perched atop a building, before long we see her up close and full of that swaggy personality.
"That's not Batman," says Grant Gustin, who normally plays The Flash, but will be appearing as Arrow during the reality-skewering events of Elseworlds. Likewise, Stephen Amell will be donning the red tights and superpowers of The Scarlet Speedster.
Early on, there's a voiceover that derides Batman as an "urban legend." This will likely be a big aspect of the role Batman will play in the events of Elseworlds, even though he won't actually be making an appearance.
In this particular narrative, Batman abandoned Gotham City three years prior, and his extended absence has left some beginning to question his existence in the first place. Now, in the decadent ghost town that Gotham has become, it appears that Batwoman is ready to take his place.
In addition, The CW released a bunch of stills from this year's annual crossover. You can see some of the coolest ones below.
We'll be seeing much more of Batwoman when the Elseworlds three-night event kicks off Sunday, Dec. 9 on The CW. And when she gets her own solo series sometime in 2019.
