This year, Marvel's grand Netflix plans will finally give us the team-up we've been waiting for when The Defenders premieres. The new series is a culmination of everything the studio's done with the streaming service so far, and will unite Dardevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) against a common foe. We already know what three of those heroes can do on their own, and Iron Fist will definitely pack a punch, so for this show to work, they'll have to be going up against a mighty powerful villain.

We have no trouble believing the Big Bad will be powerful, since it was announced in October that the legendary Sigourney Weaver will be playing her. That casting news aside, though, we didn't know anything about her. Until now. According to a new reveal by Entertainment Weekly, our new villain's name is Alexandra, and here she is, hanging out in a room with what looks like a Central Park view.

So, what else do we know about our new villain? Sadly,  not much, but we know that The Defenders writers needed a threat that fit the show's street-level aesthetic while not growing so massive that the team would feel the need to call The Avengers. They also needed an "utter badass" with an "intellectual sophistication" to match the likes of Wilson Fisk, without any comic book history to back her up. That's where Weaver comes in.

“Sigourney is the kind of person you can buy as the smartest person in the room, who you can also buy as a person holding a flamethrower," showrunner Marco Ramirez said. "Her character is a very powerful force in New York City. She’s everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous.”

The Defenders arrives this summer. Hopefully we'll know more about Alexandra by then.
