We’re exactly a week away from the premiere of the Doctor Who Christmas special that will unite the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi) with his very First incarnation, played by former Game of Thrones alum David Bradley.
The special titled “Twice Upon a Time” will also see the return of Pearl Mackie as fan favorite Bill Potts, and frequent Doctor Who writer, actor and Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss who will play the role of The Captain.
The BBC has released a new sneak peek at the episode that sees the 12th Doctor’s TARDIS being taken away by some sort of giant crane in the sky, directly inside a spaceship. However, fear not! Because there’s another perfectly good TARDIS just lying around: that of the First Doctor.
Auntie Beeb has also unveiled a new featurette where Capaldi talks about filming his regeneration scene for his Time Lord’s exit from the series.
“Twice Upon a Time” will also be a passing of the TARDIS keys between departing Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat and Broadchurch’s Chris Chibnall, who will be taking over showrunning duties for Season 11. The episode will also mark Capaldi’s regeneration into Jodie Whittaker (Broadchurch), who will become the first female Doctor in the history of the series.
