The upcoming Orion Classics thriller The Domestics finds a couple trudging across a post-apocalyptic U.S. in desperate search of safe haven. Their journey won't be an easy one, as they have to make it 200 miles through territories staked out by eight different, deadly rival factions.
The film, which is set for a theatrical release on June 28 and will hit VOD the following day, promises to be a white-knuckle ride somewhere in the vein of Mad Max and The Purge, just without the latter's 12-hour time limit on lawlessness.
Ahead of the film's release, SYFY WIRE has an exclusive clip from the survival/horror film. The near-minute-long snippet finds Mark West (Tyler Hoechlin) and his wife, Nina (Kate Bosworth), in the middle of their harrowing road trip.
As the two start to argue about "just how bad" the wasteland of their new world really is, a member of The Gamblers takes aim at their windshield while spinning a nearby roulette wheel that will determine their fate. As the wheel clicks and slows down, it lands on a skull and The Gambler fires.
Writer-director Mike P. Nelson recently said that he wanted "to tell a story about no matter how bad things can get and that no matter how broken it is, love can still win." While that might very well be the overall theme of the movie, here's hoping it helps these two embattled souls survive what looks to be a harrowing road ahead.
