Shane Black hasn't even shot a frame of film yet, but his reboot of The Predator is shaping up to be one of the most exciting genre releases of 2018.

The upcoming sci-fi action flick, which re-imagines the iconic alien creature first seen in 1987, will move the action from the jungle to suburbia and will pit the title monster against an absolutey extraordinary cast that just added another intriguing name: Thomas Jane.

Jane, whose genre credits include The Punisher and The Mist and who now co-stars in Syfy's acclaimed drama The Expanse, is reportedly in "final negotiations" to join The Predator. His role is still unknown, but Jane has classic action star looks and some serious acting chops, so the right script (and come on, this is Shane Black we're talking about) could really let him shine.

If the negotiations go well, Jane will join an ensemble that already incudes Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu), Sterling K. Brown (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) and Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse). That's a lot of acting power that covers a lot of different dramatic and comedic skill sets, and Jane can only make it stronger. It's still very early, but if this flick keeps coming together in such an impressive way, The Predator could end up winning us all over.

The Predator begins shooting next month ahead of a March 2018 release.
