Let's hope Jodie Whittaker doesn’t take a liking to fish fingers and custard.
For years, Doctor Who has been an integral part of the BBC’s fundraiser Children in Need. The charity’s mission is to help disadvantaged children receive the childhood they deserve. Each November, the BBC holds the Children In Need Appeal Night in which celebrities help get the word out.
Doctor Who has done exceptional things for the charity, from giving kids tours of the T.A.R.D.I.S, to a mini-episode featuring a chance encounter between Doctors Five (Peter Davison) and Ten (David Tennant).
This year is no different. Reported by EW, Doctor Who presented a clip from this Sunday’s upcoming episode. While it seems like the typical “let’s get the Doctor and her team set up to get in a bunch of trouble and then save the day,” the clip features a throwback moment to the years of Matt Smith.
Yep, that’s right, the good old fez, a favorite of the Eleventh Doctor. The best part of the clip is when the Doctor tries on the Fez and asks her companions “Still me?” as if they would remember her fashion choices from not one, but TWO regenerations ago.
Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor is helping take the show into the future, but it’s fun moments like this that let us know she will never forget her past. Well, except the celery on the lapel. That was just odd.
