The Flash exclusive: Killer Frost risks ‘Whatever it takes’ in sneaky Season 5 deleted scene

With the Blu-ray release of Season 5 of The Flash racing onto store shelves this week, The CW is packing in some extras to make taking home DC’s fastest hero worth your while. Among the goodies you’ll find on disc are a handful of scenes that didn’t appear in any of the episodes, and SYFY WIRE has its hands on one fun deleted bit that finds Killer Frost losing her nerve…if only for a hot minute.

Taken from "The Death of Vibe," the third episode from Season 5, the cut scene finds Caitlin Snow (aka Killer Frost) and Ralph Dibny (aka Elongated Man) just before the point of no return as they skulk toward her mother's archives to make off with the files that could shed light on the fate of Caitlin's late father, Thomas Snow.

But even though she's come so far to get her hands on the well-stashed documents, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) has a moment of hesitation and begins to lose her nerve. "We could go to prison!" she wavers. That's where Dibny (Hartley Sawyer) kicks in with just the pep talk she needs, even eliciting from Caitlin a pre-Avengers: Endgame phrase that Marvel would go on to make famous months later ("The Death of Vibe" first aired in October of 2018.)

Behold — Caitlin Snow realizing that Killer Frost is gonna do "whatever it takes."

"Look, I get it — this is really more your alter-ego’s territory than yours. But your dad’s files are in there," Dibny says. "And since your moms can be an ice-cold…challenge, you’ve only gotta ask yourself one thing: 'What would Killer Frost do?'" The speech ends up being too successful, sending Caitlin impetuously bolting to make a run for it when all Ralph meant to do was regroup and then create a distraction.

The deleted scene is just one fun add-on among tons of extra goodies packed in for the DVD and Blu-ray release of Season 5. In addition to all 22 episodes, taking home The Flash: The Complete Fifth Season also lands you behind-the-scenes featurettes on Killer Frost's background story, the Elseworlds crossover, and the show's villains — as well as a gag reel, a highlight reel from DC's 2018 San Diego Comic-Con panel, and, of course, more deleted scenes. The Blu-ray edition also comes with all three Elseworlds crossover episodes.

Pick up Season 5 of The Flash starting today on DVD (priced at $39.99) and Blu-Ray ($52.99), and then start doing warm-up laps for the show's return to The CW when Season 6 premieres on Oct. 8.
