The CW has unveiled a new promo poster for Freedom Fighters: The Ray, the new animated series that will be another piece of the multiverse within the Arrow-verse.
Set to debut on CW Seed (home of DC animated series Vixen) in early December, the version of the character will be based on writer Grant Morrison’s take for DC’s Multiversity, and will be voiced by Russell Tovey (Being Human, Quantico). However, before The Ray takes flight in animated form, he’ll first appear in all his live-action glory (played by Tovey) in the epic four-part crossover Arrow-verse event Crisis on Earth-X.
Freedom Fighters: The Ray will be set on Earth-X, an alternate world where Nazis won World War II. The animated series will feature openly gay superhero Raymond “Ray” Terrill, a reporter exposed to a “genetic light bomb” after discovering a group of government scientists were working to turn light into a world-destroying weapon. While he wasn't killed by the bomb, he was imbued with light-based superpowers, then recruited by Uncle Sam, becoming The Ray.
The poster below sees The Ray in flight alongside Freedom Fighters team members Black Condor, Phantom Lady, what looks to be Doll Man and Red Tornado (a version of which appeared on the first season of Supergirl). Also on the poster? Yep, that’s The Flash’s Cisco Ramon (played by Carlos Valdes, who will also lend his pipes to his animated character), aka Vibe. Check it out:
