This weekend, at the massive D23 Expo in Anaheim, Disney and Lucasfilm treated fans worldwide with a new batch of provocative new character posters for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

As you can see in the gallery below, the six main cast members are draped in deep crimson, with their serious faces partially obscured, perhaps as a nod to the main mystery at the movie's dark core, or a somber reminder that everyone might not make it out of this sequel alive.

Peer into these poignant, ruby red portraits of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), then give us your honest opinion of their melancholy style.

Directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi enters our galaxy on December 15.
