Just when you thought The Good Place surprised you enough with the Season 1 finale, they upped the stakes even more with Season 2. The cast and creators came to The Comic-Con Place on Saturday to discuss what we could expect in Season 3.
Joining fans in the Indigo Ballroom were Moderator Marc Evan Jackson (Shawn), Ted Danson (Michael), Kristen Bell (Eleanor), William Jackson Harper (Chidi), D'Arcy Carden (Janet), Manny Jacinto (Jason), and Jameela Jamil (Tahani). Also on hand were producers Drew Goddard, Morgan Sackett, and Michael Schur.
The panel bounced around a lot of subjects about how the show is made and the characters on the show. Thanks to the charisma of Jackson's moderation and the rest of the cast, every question and answer was hilarious and entertaining.
Producer Michael Schur talked about the origins of the show. "The was very hard to pitch. It's a show about ethics and moral philosophy. We had to convince them that these subjects could be entertaining." It was his hobby/fascination with these subjects that helped him develop the show.
When asked which cast member was the least like there character, the entire panel pointed at Manny Jacinto "Manny is a functional, intelligent human being. He is nothing like Jason Mendoza."
Kristen talked about how she has Eleanor inside her but is smart enough not to bring her out. "Eleanor is the "ticker tape" in my head that says all the things I want to say, but don't because I want good results in life."
Jameela gave a startling revelation that neither some of the cast nor the audience felt like they believed. "Manny was actually only the seventh kiss I have ever had. I didn't have my first kiss until I was 21. Even though Manny was contractually obligated to kiss me, I am still counting it."
Ted Danson then gave kudos to the writing on the show. When he was asked about how he approaches his performance, he said, "What we do is show up, say these astounding words with these astounding bow ties. the words bring out the performances."
After some more banter between the cast and creators, they showed the audience the first two minutes of Season 3, which features Michael chatting with the guard of the entrance to Earth (Mike O'Malley) so he can start the new experiment.
As the panel came to a close Ted gave some warm words to the audience: "It's amazing to see a group of people like you come out and show your enthusiasm for this show. It's just great."
The Good Place season 3 premieres September 27th on NBC.
