The Guardians of the Galaxy have been stuck on Earth for a while, but now the intergalactic heroes are heading back to the stars — and here’s our first look.

The series comes from creators Gerry Duggan (Deadpool, Uncanny Avengers) and Aaron Kuder (Death of X) and blasts Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Drax and Gamora back into space to continue their adventures. Turns out, things have changed a bit while the Guardians have been cooling their heels on Earth. When the Guardians return, they’ll have a new Nova Corps chasing them down and a war brewing between the Elders of the Universe.

“I cannot tell you how excited I am for this book!,” Editor Jordan D. White said in a statement. “Gerry and Aaron have been working on this puppy in secret for months, and they’ve cooked up a series that will be the spine of the Marvel cosmic universe, while still being rooted in the great Guardians characters we love. And maybe even a surprise addition to the team eventually, too…”

The first issue of the new Guardians of the Galaxy hits comic store shelves on May 3.
