Following his recent stint on the Twin Peaks revival series, Kyle MacLachlan has now joined the cast of The House With a Clock in Its Walls, with Owen Vaccaro (Daddy’s Home) tapped to star as the film’s young lead.
The upcoming Universal/Amblin movie is based on John Bellairs’ 1973 gothic horror novel illustrated by Edward Gorey. Adapting the book (which was primarily aimed at the young adult crowd) for the big screen is Supernatural’s Eric Kripke, with Eli Roth (Hostel, The Green Inferno) sitting in the director’s chair. It's an interesting move for Roth, who usually helms bloody gory horror films aimed at adults.
The House With a Clock in Its Walls is part of a 12-book series and follows the story of a “recently orphaned 10-year-old boy” named Lewis Barnavelt (played by Vaccaro) who “discovers a world of hidden passageways, magic and danger in his uncle’s old house.” MacLachlan will play an evil wizard named Isaac Izard, the “sinister original owner of the house.”
What do you think of the addition of Kyle MacLachlan and Owen Vaccaro to The House With a Clock in Its Walls?
