Adventures in babysitting... a mini superhero. Fans of The Incredibles rejoice, because there's a super treat coming your way when the sequel arrives on DVD and digital later this year.
You'll remember how Jack-Jack had started to cause some serious damage with his burgeoning superpowers, which required him to be temporarily babysat by Edna Mode. Some fans of the movie had been wondering exactly what they got up to when Edna had come back and developed a suit to help control his abilities, and well, they can wonder no more.
'Many of you have suggested we show what transpired the night E babysat Jack-Jack,' Bird tweeted to this followers on Wednesday. ‘Well, we were WAAAY ahead of you! AUNTIE EDNA, an all-new short directed by i2 story supervisor Ted Mathot will be on the #Incredibles2 in-home release available on Digital 10/23 and Blu-ray 11/6!’
It's obviously not the first time Bird has treated fans to something a bit extra when it comes to the world of The Incredibles. The original 2004 movie spawned the pretty awesome animated short Jack-Jack Attack, which also detailed what goes into babysitting a baby superhero-to-be. In that one, we got to see what happened when Kari was left to look after little Jack, whose powers were stimulated by Kari playing him Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 11.
When it comes to amazing animated shorts, Pixar’s are inarguably the crème de la crème. They've been pumping out classic and interesting shorts since the ‘80s, with everything from The Adventures of André and Wally B. (1984) to the adorable Piper (2016).
Most recently, to coincide with The Incredibles 2, they treated audiences to the dark short Bao, about an aging and lonely Chinese-Canadian mother, suffering from empty nest syndrome that successfully pulled at all the heartstrings.
