A new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer debuted during Game 7 of the World Series, showing a few new clips of Episode VIII that feature Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) returning to a familiar piece of junk that's got it where it counts: the Millennium Falcon. Luke enters, lights buzz awake, and the engine whirs to life -- all as Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) narrates about allowing the past to die.
The Falcon rests on a cliff on the watery planet of Ahch-To, where Luke has been living in exile since his failure instructing Ren. This is also where Rey (Daisy Ridley) tracked him down in The Force Awakens, and where the duo train in the new film -- so what they do when they leave is one of the most significant parts of the plot.
The only characters seen on the ship in previous trailers have been Chewbacca and his Porg friend, so this hints at the details of the large-scale space battles shown in clips released so far -- either who’s flying and riding, or where from/to they’re heading.
The rest of the trailer is footage we’ve seen before, but with Driver’s ominous muttering giving it extra punch: “Let the past die, that’s the only way to become what you were meant to be.”
Watch the trailer above if you’re ready for conjecture, nostalgia, or a healthy mixture of the two:
