In 2013, Naughty Dog changed the genre of survival-horror games with their massively successful The Last of Us. While the developer confirmed they were working on a sequel last December, no further news had been reported until now.

At PlayStation's Paris Games Week, Naughty Dog gave us our first extended look at the world of The Last of Us: Part II. While it doesn't feature appearances from either smuggler Joe or teenage girl Ellie, who starred heavily in the first installment, what it does offer up is a teaser of a bigger (and bloodier) look at the Last of Us universe.

Warning: The video below contains intense language and violence.

It was confirmed last year that Last of Us fans would be able to play Part II as an older version of Ellie, but the teaser above doesn't give us any hints about what she might be up to at this point. Instead, we're introduced to a new character, Yara, who has to deal with a particularly bloodthirsty group of Infected with the help of her friend Lev. They escape relatively unscathed, but this teaser demonstrates the impressively cinematic look that appears to have been improved upon since the first installment.

The Last of Us: Part II will be available for PlayStation 4 sometime in 2018.
