The Last Ship is about to launch into its fourth season on TNT, and at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, they showed off the trailer for the new season, which starts August 20.
The first three seasons followed the crew of the guided missile destroyer USS Nathan James. A mysterious disease, the Red Flu, has been ravaging citizens around the world, and the crew was tasked with protecting the scientist working on a cure. When a cure was created, they then had to distribute it across a world that had devolved into savagery.
Season 4 seems to have less of a military edge and more focus on former captain Tom Chandler (Eric Dane), who has retired to live a quiet life of anonymity with his kids in Greece. While in Greece, according to the new trailer, he seems to join some sort of Game of Thrones Fight Club.
More worrisome is the fact that the Red Flu has jumped from humans to food. Called the Red Rust, if a solution isn't found soon, the world will enter a catastrophic famine. The stakes are high, but it doesn't sound like there is going to be as much action as previous seasons have held. After all, corn can't fight back. Unless, of course, the Red Rust mutates the corn so that it can fight back!
