With dinosaurs roaming the modern day at the end of Season 2, the Legends of Tomorrow obviously have their hands full when the show returns this fall. In a fresh look at Season 3, we don’t know how they’ll fix all that — but Rory does get to kick it with Julius Caesar. So there’s that.
Throughout its second season, Legends grew into one of the best superhero shows on TV, and Year Three looks to continue that trend. The new footage shows the Legends meeting Caesar (played by Simon Merrells, aka Marcus Crassus from Spartacus) and a turn-of-the-century traveling circus (complete with a bearded lady!). Being superheroes, they also punch a whole lot of bad guys. The introduction of new team member Zari Tomaz is especially quippy and builds a lot of anticipation for her addition to the team.
As fun as this trailer is, it's admittedly a bit short on concrete details for what to expect in the upcoming season, which has a lot to live up to. Season 2 had great villains in the Legion of Doom, and especially Matt Lescher as Reverse-Flash, who was such an entertaining jerk that fans loved him even as they couldn't wait to see him get his comeuppance. We do know that Kuasa, one of Vixen's descendants, is set to be a major villain in Season 3, which sets up a lot of compelling possibilities for a more mystical slant on the story. Legends of Tomorrow really hit its stride in Season 2, and now that it's figured itself out, there's a lot of potential for Season 3 to be even better.
Legends of Tomorrow premieres Tuesday, October 10.
