The cast and creative team behind SYFY's The Magicians hit the stage at San Diego Comic-Con to talk about where the show is going after the world-changing Season 2 finale. Executive producers Sera Gamble and John McNamara joined cast members Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta and Summer Bishil.

Chris Hardwick referred to the show as "the new Buffy" in the intro; he and his wife love The Magicians and he begged to host the panel, which opened with a three-minute Season 2 recap re-introducing all of the characters and catching us up. Each of the characters is going through their own growth process and learning a lot from their new challenges.

At the end of Season 2, Jason Ralph says Quentin has "learned a lot" but is "heartbroken." As we move forward, he'll be dedicated to "forward motion." Meanwhile, Olivia Taylor Dudley's character Alice is very angry at the end of Season 2 and is filled with pent-up secrets.

Gamble and McNamara stressed how glad they are that SYFY let them make such a unique show that mixes many genres to become its own special thing, with Sera able to bring her experience on Supernatural to the proceedings.

So, what can we expect from Season 3? Get excited for more music ... and The Magicians heading out to sea! Meanwhile, Eliot and Margo will stay bonded and have some intense discussions coming up about their friendship.

When it came to fan questions, Sera Gamble provided the simple explanation that "Swayze is awesome” when asked about the reason for the Patrick Swayze reference. Olivia pretends she's "nipple-twisting" when spell casting with her hands. And if they had to sacrifice someone to save magic? Jason Ralph and Arjun Gupta would sacrifice each other's characters ... while Hale Appleman would sacrifice both Penny AND Quentin.

The Magicians returns to SYFY in 2018.
