Gina Carano has been cast in Lucasfilm's upcoming The Mandalorian for Disney+, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed today.

The 36-yearpold actor/model/MMA fighter is perhaps best known for her role as the super strong mutant and lieutenant of Ajax, Angel Dust, in the first Deadpool movie from 2016. Carano also starred in Fast & Furious 6 as Riley Hicks.

News of Carano's casting comes just a day after reports pegged The Mandalorian's lead role to Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, Kingsman: The Golden Circle), who is currently in the middle of serious negotiations to join the cast.

Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), and Deborah Chow (The Man in the High Castle) are some of the talented folks who will be handling directorial duties for the show. Dave Filoni (Star Wars Rebels) is directing the pilot.

Created and written by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Jungle Book), the series is expected to drop on the Disney+ streaming service sometime in 2019.
