Whatever you thought of director Paul Feig’s female-led Ghostbusters remake, the idea that they could somehow meet up with the original ghostbusting team is an appealing one that could end up being a bucketload of slimy fun. At least IDW thinks so.

The comic book publisher has revealed during the latest blitz of solicitation that original Ghostbusters Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Winston Zeddemore and Egon Spengler will find themselves face to face with the ghostbusting ladies Erin Gilbert, Jillian Holtzmann, Abby Yates and Patty Tolan when the two separate movie universes collide. Titled Ghostbusters 101, the new crossover series will be penned by Erik Burnham and illustrated by Dan Schoening.

The storyline sees the original team going back to their teaching roots, where they take on their first students. When said students accidentally punch through the spacetime continuum, merging the two universes, it’s up to Venkman, Stantz, Zeddemore, and Spengler to team up with Jillian, Abby, Patty and Erin to fix things up. Here’s the official synopsis:

“Let's Do The Space-Warp Again!” Before they began investigating the supernatural, most of the original Ghostbusters were teachers... and they've decided it's time they start sharing their knowledge again. But when their first batch of students start poking around the firehouse and accidentally set in motion the merging of two universes (it's easier than you'd think) Venkman, Stantz, Zeddemore, and Spengler will need all the help they can get to put things right! And who do you think will Answer The Call? (If you guessed Holtzmann, Yates, Tolan, and Gilbert... you get a gold star!) It's a brand new inter-dimensional meeting of the minds, starting here!

Ghostbusters 101 #1 will arrive in comic book stores on March 22. What do you think about the new Ghostbusters and the original team uniting in a new comic series? Who you gonna call?
