The fabulous sci-fi comedy Galaxy Quest was supposed to become a television show, but the death of co-star Alan Rickman put an end to that. But this particular void is going to be filled with another sci-fi comedy, The Orville, created by the ever-talented Seth MacFarlane. We have the SDCC trailer for you below.

The SDCC trailer is only one minute long, but it's filled with footage we didn't get to see when the first official trailer was released two months ago. I'd say this was less comedic, more action oriented. With a closer look at the ships and a better feel for space, this hits us squarely in our geeky hearts. I'm very excited for this show.

The Orville is about to join the very small ranks of space-based sci-fi sitcoms. The others are the British shows Red Dwarf and Hyperdrive, the 1978-1979 Quark, and um, The Muppets' “Pigs in Space.”

The Orville airs on Fox on September 10.
