Who needs a pardon from one of the most powerful individuals in the world when you're the most dangerous killing machine on the planet?
In a new teaser for the upcoming second season of Marvel's The Punisher on Netflix, we see Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal isn't shown, just the character's hands) finish a drink before setting his presidential pardon ablaze. As the paper burns to blackened ash, we see the destroyed remnants of the pardon turn into Frank's iconic skull symbol.
The caption sums up Mr. Castle's MO pretty succinctly: "Back to work."

The release of the teaser will come as a bittersweet development for fans of Netflix's Marvel shows, which have been canceled one by one since October. With Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil not receiving additional seasons, many suspect that Punisher and Jessica Jones (currently filming its third season) are next to receive the axe.
In addition to Bernthal's Castle, Deborah Ann Woll, Ben Barnes, and Amber Rose Revah will be reprising the roles of Karen Page, Billy Russo, and Dinah Madani, respectively.
Despite the trailer's ambiguous "Coming Soon" promise, Season 2 of The Punisher could arrive as early as this month.
