Have you just been dying for a Tron/Chappie/Gladiators/reality TV mashup? Then Man Vs Robot could make all your sentient dreams comes true.

According to Deadline, Fox is piloting the new show, which pits families against artificially intelligent robots in “large-scale physical” contests. Each episode will be hosted by British X-Factor host Dermot O’Leary, and include four teams of “competive brothers and sisters and stay-at-home moms and dads,” taking on “real-size gaming robots.”

Just let that sink in for a second…

Did you just have a vision of Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots? Did it involve your sibling getting punched in the face by a robot? Did it make you smile?

Fox is hoping so, because after two years in development, they’ve now got a pilot episode of Man Vs Robot in edits. The show comes from British production company Tuesday’s Child, part of Greenbird Media, which produced Trust Me I’m a Robot for Britain’s Channel 4. The news was unveiled today at the INTV conference in Jerusalem (held by Keshet International, which just acquired Greenbird).

According to Karen Smith, head of Tuesday’s Child, “We’ve created real-size gaming robots because we wanted to hook into how do you have an emotional moment with robots. People are a little bit scared because this great big thing is making its own decisions, and it might only be playing Pong against you but it’s a compelling experience to be with them.”

Are you looking forward to having some emotional moments with robots? Or better yet, watching other human guinea pigs have emotional moments with them? Or do you think this is just baiting the robots into taking over? Let us know in the comments!
