We’ve seen trailers for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the third and final game in Lara Croft’s origin series. We’ve played Shadow of the Tomb Raider in all its violent, stealthy glory. But we’ve never seen it like this.
“This” meaning “recast by fans to only star cats and dogs,” that is. Yeah, you read that right. According to Slate, the first trailer for the game has received the kitten calendar treatment, having its every shot replicated and enhanced with added cuteness. Croft is a puppy, the villainous shaman is a hairless cat. Watch the first for reference below, then follow it up for one of the more surreal things to hit this franchise (besides, perhaps, Croft’s original polygonal proportions):
And now, much hairier:
Defeated by a roomba. That’s probably in the final version of the game, though no spoilers here. The craziest thing is that this comes from the creators of the original trailer, in honor of National Dog Day. Because, all other things aside, the stealthy Croft should probably have been a cat, right?
If after all that, you STILL need another trailer to convince you of how great Shadow of the Tomb Raider is going to be, the game released another official trailer, which you can watch below:
Croft (human Croft) finishes out the trilogy on Sept. 14.
