It's time for more tales of the mer-people, and an upcoming one looks to be just as dark as the rest of them have been of late. Freeform has the new mer-drama Siren coming shortly, and there's also Tidelands, a scary mer-story coming to mer-Netflix. Just when you thought that enough time had passed since The Shape of Water, and you might be free to not fall in love with a mer-person (and/or turn into one), along comes the first U.S. trailer for the Swiss film, Blue My Mind.
Coming from Uncork'd Entertainment, this new mer-movie is the feature film debut of director/writer Lisa Brühlmann. It tells the story of a 15-year-old girl named Mia, and she's going through some changes. Sounds about normal, except these aren't normal changes — they are mer-changes. Things on her body that should not web together start to web together, gills and scales make some unwelcome appearances, and so forth.
It's easier just to show you...jump into the waters of the first U.S. trailer right here:
As seen in the trailer above, the movie is being compared to Julia Ducournau's grizzly and riveting Raw. Luna Wedler stars as Mia, with Zoë Pastelle Holthuizen, Regula Grauwiller, Georg Scharegg, Lou Haltinner, and Yael Meier along for the swim.
The official synopsis describes the film story as beginning when Mia and her parents move to the suburbs of Zürich. Her body begins to change "with a force that threatens to drive her out of her mind." She then begins the process of turning into the being "which has slumbered within her for years...and is now gaining the upper hand."
The mer-film will play in select U.S. theaters as well as mer-video-on-mer-demand starting November 13. Just in time for Thanksgiving! Will you be checking out this particular mer-yarn, or will you let it stay down there in the depths of Davy Jones' locker? Let us mer-know in the mer-comments.
