Back in September, an Adult Swim teaser bumper said that the long-awaited seventh season of The Venture Bros. was only “422 days away.” However, it appears that the waiting period has been cut back by at least a few months.

Forbes recently profiled Chris Prynoski, the president and co-founder of Titmouse Inc., the animation company behind The Venture Bros. since the fifth season. Buried in that piece was confirmation from Adult Swim that The Venture Bros.' “new season will be out this summer.”

That’s a big development considering that there hasn’t been a new Venture Bros. episode since March 2016. The sixth season also came to a close without resolving its central storyline regarding the Monarch’s quest to regain the rights to “arch” Doctor Venture. To get rid of the criminals in his way, the Monarch adopted the persona of the Blue Morpho, a fallen superhero who was apparently the Monarch’s father and a staunch ally of the Venture family. Along the way, the new Blue Morpho also earned the undying hatred of his wife, Doctor Mrs. The Monarch, and she vowed to kill him. So far, the Monarch’s ruse hasn’t been exposed to his wife or his colleagues at the Guild of Calamitous Intent.

2018 marks the 15th anniversary of The Venture Bros., which was created by Jackson Publick. Doc Hammer co-writes the series with Publick, and their show has earned a reputation for its hilarious writing and performances, as well as the extended breaks between seasons that could drive men and women to madness. We’re eager to see the Venture family finally return to our TV screens, but we wouldn’t be too shocked if the season begins with another one-hour special before making us wait for the rest of the episodes.
