When the zombie apocalypse hits, us nerds will be ready. With wine.
Lot18, an online wine club, has recently teamed up with AMC to create The Walking Dead wine. Three different handcrafted blends are available in limited quantities, and named for three of our favorite characters: Rick Grimes, Negan, and Daryl Dixon.
As you can see in the gallery below, each wine has a specially designed label, meant to evoke the spirit of each character: Rick's has a hand clutching a gun, surrounded by zombie hands; Daryl's features the wings from his trademark vest; and Negan's, of course, features Lucille.
The official specs for each wine are as follows (via the press release):
Rick Grimes - 2016 California Petite Sirah
Rick Grimes is the undisputed leader of The Walking Dead, so it is no surprise that he would have a namesake wine. Lot18 promises that "this red is a true crowd pleaser - bold, dark and balanced, exhibiting a notable tension between the bright acidity and firm, tannic structure."
Daryl Dixon - 2016 California Cabernet Sauvignon
Fan-favorite Daryl Dixon is a complicated character, so a complex wine is perfect for him. This cabernet sauvignon "shows depth and an attractive core of ripe black fruits, intermingled with savory nuances of coffee bean and dried herbs."
Negan - California Bourbon Barrel Red Blend
Negan is probably the most infamous character in the comic book and the TV show. The vicious leader of the Saviors, Negan is never without Lucille, his baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. Negan's wine is "robust, [with] extracted flavors of vanilla, dark chocolate and caramel. A portion of the wine was bourbon barrel aged for three months. Composed of 73% Merlots, 18% Zinfandel and 9% Petite Sirah."
The Walking Dead is currently in its eighth season on AMC. Right now, the communities of the Hilltop, Alexandria, and the Kingdom have joined forces to go to war against Negan and his cult of Saviors, and they could probably use a bottle or two of this juice right about now.
The wines are available for purchase exclusively at Lot18.com/TheWalkingDead, in case you want to stock your own bunker with a few bottles.
