In This Episode…
Over at Hilltop, Jesus has been elected leader, again. It is a job that he does not seem to enjoy, though that may be because he believes Maggie will return at some point. He regularly sneaks out and meets Aaron, to keep the lines of communication open with the increasingly isolationist Alexandria. The two of them find Rosita and rush her back to Hilltop.
Michonne, Siddiq, and DJ lead the newbies to Hilltop. Along the way, they stop by the group’s camp and find it decimated by zombies. Michonne overreacts to Luke finding a Stradivarius and destroys it. She also refuses to join the group in Hilltop – some sort of bad blood with Maggie. Siddiq finally tells her that Maggie has gone off to live with Georgie, but that doesn’t change her mind – until they run into a couple messengers who tell them that Rosita was found, injured, and is now at Hilltop.
Carol and Henry make camp with Daryl. He hunts and cooks a snake stew for dinner, and Carol cuts his hair, lamenting that he has stayed out in the woods far longer than she thought he would. Secretly, Carol is there to ask Daryl to move to the Hilltop to keep an eye on Henry. He eventually agrees, in a very Daryl way. He waits until morning, when Carol and Henry are about to leave, and he tells them he will be ready in ten minutes. When they arrive at Hilltop, there are happy greetings – until Aaron and Jesus tell Daryl they are going out to look for Eugene. Daryl – and his dog – join the search.
Time for a middle episode
Episode seven, time for a “middle episode.” There was not much of import that happened tonight. It was a wholly average episode with little action and seemingly nothing of consequence. A few little breadcrumbs to lead us deeper into stories that will surely be important later, but are just kind of boring now.
X marks the spot
Now we have seen that Daryl has an X on his back, like Michonne. Actually, it looks like Daryl has a couple Xs, as well as some other scars. And Maggie is gone. Something clearly happened to the three of them, a physical attack that left them marked both physically and emotionally. That would explain why Michonne is so against the fair, and why Maggie and Daryl have isolated themselves. Now, it’s just a matter of finding out what happened….
Daryl has a pet dog, named Dog. It’s the most Daryl thing I can think of. And of course, Dog goes with Daryl to Hilltop.
I feel like I am being taunted with the promise of the Whisperers. It took until episode six before we got the hint of them; this week, we only get a continuation of that hint. I am getting impatient!!
