The latest trailer for Sony’s The Dark Tower adaptation might be the most polished yet, showing off more of the ambitious fantasy story based on Stephen King’s ambitious series.

The film looks to take a few liberties with the story as told by King in the book saga, though it’s hard to deny Idris Elba’s Gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey’s Man in Black aren’t pitch-perfect casting. The story finds the battle in the world of the Dark Tower spilling over into our world, and we see more footage of Elba and McConaughey facing off. The effects work looks much more complete here when compared to previous trailers (especially that leaked first cut).

It’s hard to get a read on how this movie will turn out, and though fans certainly have the highest of hopes, the fact that Sony seems to be short-changing the marketing campaign and shuffling it to the screen likely doesn’t bode well. This trailer looks a bit better than the others, but that isn’t exactly saying much. Fans have waited a long time to see this franchise realized in live action, so here’s hoping they get it right.

The Dark Tower opens August 4.
