The Bay trailer offers a whole new reason not to go in the water

The team behind Paranormal Activity hopes to trade in ghosts for ecological terrors for their latest found-footage horror film, The Bay. Don't worry about that apparition moving in the corner—just don't go in the water.

The Paranormal crew has tapped Barry Levinson, the man behind the freaky sci-fi flick Sphere, to bring this one, set in a Maryland town plagued by a new breed of freaky water parasite, to life. The worst part? It's part water baddie, and part Alien chestburster.

It's looks like a wild mix of everything from Jaws to a creature feature, and if done right it could definitely be one to watch. Plus, it apparently mixes in some small-town politics as well.

Found footage is admittedly getting a little played out, but if anyone can do it right, it's the Paranormal team.

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think:

The film is scheduled to hit theaters and iTunes on Nov. 3.

What do you think? Will you be watching?
