What starts off as a cure always turns into a crime against humanity. That's a basic plot point that pops up in Rise of the Planet of the Apes. A new trailer has been released, and it explains how James Franco's obsession with science and a monkey screws up life for the rest of us.
The trailer shows Franco giving a presentation on something he calls "The Cure." He then decides to bend the rules and experiment on a chimp named Caesar. The animal grows up in his home and begins to learn at an alarming rate. He likes to read, write and color, and eventually he's just as smart as some humans—even smarter.
The organization that Franco works for eventually takes Caesar and places him with other apes, which doesn't go over well. He was raised by humans, so in comparison his new neighbors seem a little—uncivilized. So what's a super-smart monkey to do? He breaks out! And he takes some drugs and a few buddies with him.
Compared to the first Rise of the Planet of the Apes trailer, this one makes the movie look a lot more interesting. We know it's wrong that Caesar's leading an ape revolt, but you can't give someone the good life and then take it away. He was living in the lap of luxury then forced into a cage. Wouldn't you be pissed?
Rise of the Planet of the Apes opens in theaters everywhere on Aug. 5.
