Divine evil is infiltrating Fox this fall with new seasons of The Exorcist and LuciferThe new Exorcist run falls into the chaos that happens when demonic possession starts to shake two Catholic priests when an incident demonic possession threatens to consume them with darkness, while the other sees the devil as a charming sociopath. He just happens to be the lord of the underworld in a suit.

The Exorcist, inspired by the iconic movie but creeping along its own path, will be deviating from the events of the first season. Father Thomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) and Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) will be hightailing it out of Chicago in Season 2 to seek out dark forces and ultimately end up in a group home for at-risk foster children where something ghastly is going on.

You only need to see where this place is to guess that unholy things are going to happen here—a private island surrounded in the woods and away from any semblance of civilization. You know what can happen in the woods at night. Meanwhile, there is a controversy in the Vatican as Father Bennett tries to extract anyone who he suspects has betrayed his godly calling and been lured by the devil.

The devil takes on a drastically different guise in Lucifer. Starring Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Aimee Garcia, and Scarlett Estevez, Season 3 is revived after Lucifer’s kidnapping and the restoration of his fallen angel wings.

There will also be a new character who is the light to Lucifer’s darkness. Police lieutenant Marcus Pierce (Tom Welling for all those of you who ever watched Smallville) is the too-good opposite of Lucifer—so good it’s annoying. What may be even more annoying is the charm and charisma they have in common, never mind being devilishly handsome. Which is why the flames of Lucifer’s hellish temper begin to burn when Pierce and Decker (German) get a little too close for the devil to approve.

Get possessed by The Exorcist on September 29 and get your guilty pleasure on with Lucifer on October 2.
