Back in late November, Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pacific Rim) announced that he'd finally finished the script for his long-awaited Justice League Dark /Dark Universe movie project.
Del Toro, who has long toiled over what is a passion project of his, and whose next flick will be Crimson Peak, also recently revealed that the script went to weekend reads at Warner Bros. This is sure to have put a spring in the step of many avid comic-book readers, who were left holding their breath over the long-gestating flick. The fact that the fate of NBC’s Constantine (this version of Constantine will not be part of the DC movie universe, but the character will) is still iffy, due to so-so ratings, sure wasn’t helping matters.
But now there’s a bit of interesting news. Latino Review has gotten a nice little scoop, and they’ve revealed the names of the DC comics characters that’ve made the team of del Toro’s comic-book movie. Hopefully we'll get to see them if/when the movie finally gets made (crossing our fingers!), pending a good reaction to the script from WB. And here they are, your Justice Lague Dark team members:
Just remember that nothing is official yet, so take this with a pinch/grain/bucket of salt, but we’ve got to admit that we’re a bit shocked that there are no Spectre and Swamp Thing mentioned in the team roster — as we first anticipated. Perhaps they'll join the team, but at a later time as the story evolves? Guess we’ll have to wait and see, but we sure hope so. Also, the fact that Jason Blood, aka Etrigan the Demon, has made the team is rather a nice surprise, but Zatanna was pretty much expected to be there.
We’re still far from the green light needed in order to see JLD on the big screen. But with David Ayer's Suicide Squad (which will be a very dark comic-book movie) moving full steam ahead at Warner Bros., with a 2016 release date, we have hope it'll happen.
Are you happy with the mystical team members making up Justice League Dark? Are you surprised that Spectre and Swamp Thing seemingly haven’t made the cut ... at least, not yet?
