The acclaimed AMC series Humans hasn’t been the biggest ratings smash in the U.S., but it’s still probably one of the best genre shows you might not be watching. So as our first look at Season 2 arrives, now is the perfect time to catch up.

The network has dropped an extended trailer for Season 2 of the near-future series, which digs even deeper into the themes of humanity, robotics and how synthetic creatures affects the world in sociological and psychological ways. The new footage here is heavy on establishing the mood of the season, and you get a feel for the higher stakes and thriller aspects being sprinkled in to up the ante.

The new season will consist of eight episodes, and reportedly pick up several months after the events of Season 1. We see more and more “synths” starting to wake up, while Niska (Emily Berrington) is still on the run with the consciousness code. We also get our first look at Matrix alum Carrie-Anne Fisher, who is joining the cast this year.

The second season of Humans premieres February 2017 on AMC.
