Things are not going well for Jessica Jones in first look at Marvel Comics revival

It’s been a long time coming, and fresh off her hit Netflix series, Jessica Jones is finally getting her own solo comic book (again).

Minor spoilers ahead!

Original creators Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos return to the character for the new run, which will pick up in the wake of c as part of Marvel’s latest NOW! relaunch. The first few pages from the debut issue have finally been released, and it seems Jessica will be spending a bit of time in The Cellar, aka the super-villain prison on Ryker’s Island. Bendis has previously teased the series will find Jessica after the “world has blown up in her face,” and landing in The Cellar sounds just about right.

Lucky for her, someone has decided it’s time for Jessica to fly (or super-jump) the coop, so the first issue picks up with her release. So how’d she end up there? Hard to say. But we have seen Jessica start popping up in some of Bendis’ other Civil War II books (namely Spider-Man), so she seems to be getting drawn into the action (or at least the peripheral of the action). It stands to reason her role will only grow, with a solo book pending.

Jessica Jones No. 1 is set to hit shelves in early October.
