We’re just a few months away from the fourth season of The Walking Dead, but we have a brand-new scene from season three to tide us over. Spoiler alert: Things are getting awkward.
The scene finds the gang talking about Rick (Andrew Lincoln) behind his back, as he rides the crazy train in the wake of his wife’s death. The gang is trying to figure out how to help Rick, but then he walks into the room. Cue an uncomfortable silence.
It’s easy to see why this scene wound up on the cutting-room floor, as it doesn’t really manage to move the story forward. By this point, we already know that Rick is grappling with his sanity — we don’t really need another scene of hand-wringing to hammer the point home.
But this is the doldrums of summer, and we’ll take whatever undead fun we can get:
